GREEN BAY, Wis.—Sept. 16, 2018—The Green Bay Packers and WPS Health Solutions paid special tribute to Warren Litza and his family during Sunday’s Packers-Vikings game for Operation Fan Mail.

The Oak Creek, Wis., native is a veteran of the U.S. Army who joined the military at age 17 and retired as a Master Sergeant after 33 years of service, including 26 years in the Army National Guard and seven on active duty.

During his time in the military, he served as a wheeled mechanic, track mechanic, motor sergeant, and battalion maintenance sergeant. He served tours in Germany from 1985-95 and was deployed as a part of Operation Noble Eagle from 2001-02. He was also deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005-06, an 18-month deployment in which his unit did not experience any fatalities.

Litza was honored during his military career with several awards and badges, including the Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Achievement Medals, National Defense Ribbons, and Global War on Terrorism Service and Expedition Medals.

A lifelong Packers fan, Litza attended the game Sunday with his wife, Cyndi, daughter, Samantha, and son, Warren Litza II.

Operation Fan Mail, which debuted in 2007, is designed to honor families with a member who is on active duty, or a member who is a veteran. The family member can be a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter or sibling. The Packers and WPS Health Solutions will host a family at each 2018 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities. A total of 111 individuals or families have been recognized through the program thus far.

To choose families, the Packers and WPS Health Solutions are asking interested families, or friends of eligible families, to submit an essay, 500 words or less, on why a particular fan should be saluted next season.
