Packers, WPS Health Solutions salute Dr. Timothy Flaherty and Dennis Moe for Operation Fan Mail

GREEN BAY, Wis.—Nov. 11, 2019—The Green Bay Packers and WPS Health Solutions paid special tribute to two Wisconsin veterans, Dr. Timothy Flaherty and Dennis Moe, along with their families, during Sunday’s Packers-Panthers Salute to Service game for Operation Fan Mail.

The two veterans were selected by WPS Health Solutions to honor their extraordinary service during the Packers’ annual recognition of Veterans Day.

Flaherty, a native of Brandon, Wis., served in the Air Force from 1960-63 as a Command Flight Surgeon. Following his time in the Air Force, he joined the Wisconsin Air National Guard, achieved the rank of Major General, and served as Dispensary Commander and Deputy Surgeon General for ANG Affairs. Dr. Flaherty retired in 1991 after serving in the National Guard for 28 years. He attended Sunday’s game with his sons, Kevin and Daniel, and his grandson, Joe. He lives in Appleton, Wis., where he enjoys spending time following all the Wisconsin sports teams and keeping up with his 14 grandchildren.

(Dr. Flaherty retired from the Board of Directors of WPS Health Solutions in March 2019 after 18 years of service, including 10 years as the Board Chair.)

Moe, a native of York, Wis., served in the Air Force for 21 years. After joining the military in 1963, he served in a variety of roles and deployments all over the world, including at Air Force bases in Thailand, Germany, Taiwan and Japan, and he achieved the rank of Major. He retired in 1984, and currently lives in Northfield, Wis. He attended Sunday’s game with his wife, Mei-Feng, his son, Eric, and his daughter, Renee. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday, and remains active by spending time with his family, owning and running two farms, and volunteering with the American Legion and other groups to support local veterans.

Operation Fan Mail, which debuted in 2007, is designed to honor families with a member who is on active duty, or a member who is a veteran. The family member can be a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter or sibling. The Packers and WPS Health Solutions will host a family or group at each 2019 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities. A total of 126 individuals, families or groups have been recognized through the program thus far.

To choose families, the Packers and WPS Health Solutions are asking interested families, or friends of eligible families, to submit an essay, 500 words or less, on why a particular fan should be saluted next season. Essays can be sent to:

Operation Fan Mail
P.O. Box 10628
Green Bay, WI, 54307-0628

or submit online.

In addition to being recognized on-field prior to the game, selected families will receive four tickets to the game and a $150 Packers Pro Shop gift card courtesy of WPS Health Solutions.
