WPS Health Solutions is celebrating 75 years of making health care easier for the people we serve! As a nationally regarded benefits administrator for a variety of U.S. government programs, we serve millions of people and take pride in remaining a not-for-profit health insurer in Wisconsin and several other Midwestern states. Putting people first and caring for our customers have always been our guiding principles.
Today, Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation uses “WPS Health Solutions” to refer to our entire enterprise. Within our enterprise, there are three divisions: WPS Government Health Administrators, WPS Military and Veterans Health, and WPS Health Insurance/WPS Health Plan/EPIC Specialty Benefits.
WPS Health Solutions developed deep roots in Wisconsin during the past 75 years and has expanded to include offices in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and Virginia. In 1946, when many people—including soldiers returning from World War II—had difficulty paying for necessary health care, the State Medical Society established Wisconsin Physicians Service (WPS) to market and administer the Wisconsin Plan. Since then, we’ve grown, developing new ways to care for individuals, seniors, groups, and government program beneficiaries.
Taking care of active-duty and retired military personnel and seniors continues to be a focus for WPS. We help administer several TRICARE programs for the U.S. Department of Defense. WPS was also the first to administer Medicare Part B benefits to Wisconsin residents and still serves seniors across the country.
WPS supports many initiatives to enhance the health and well-being of people in and around the locations where we do business. It’s not just giving back—it’s doing what’s right!
