David Vogel retires from WPS Board of Directors


MADISON, Wis.—May 11, 2020—After 47 years of service, David Vogel retired in April from the Board of Directors of Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS Health Solutions).

Vogel was elected to the WPS Board of Directors in 1973. He was elected secretary of the board in 1993 and served in that role until 2014. Most recently, he served on the Executive Committee and the Medicare Committee, and he was chair of the Planning, Governance, and Nominating Committee.

Vogel built a career around engineering and community service. He chairs the board of directors at Vogel Bros. Building Co. in Madison. Vogel earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed the Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard Business School. He is a registered professional engineer and licensed real estate broker.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vogel went on to become president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. He also helped organize the civil engineering work-study program at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville.

Vogel is a past recipient of the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Daily Reporter Publishing Co., Wisconsin’s construction, law, and public records newspaper. He also received the Thoughtful, Committed Citizen Award from the Atwood Community Center for 50 years of contributions.
